Tubbytronic Superdome
video installation, 2024
Since “cuteness” as a concept emerged in the early 20th century, its grasp on culture is becoming exponentially tighter. Tubbytronic Superdome speculates on a future which is propelled by the acceleration of cuteness, as it collapses the object-subject divide and moulds everything into its own, adorable image. By focusing on the dissolution of speech into the babbling baby-talk, the installation approaches the voice as a boundary that divides the human and the non-human in hegemonic imaginaries.
Tubbytronic Superdome was presented at the Dystopia Sound Art Biennial in Berlin.
